Nowadays, the DivX video format has become extremely popular and more and more people are using this format to play any type of video. Moreover, numerous media devices are supporting this format and more such devices are launched everyday. The reasons are simple. DivX files are much lower in size than regular AVI files or DVD files, while their quality stays pretty much the same. A smaller size means hours of video footage stored on a regular DVD at a high quality. The problem is playing DivX files. The Windows operating system lacks support for playing DivX video files without a third party codec. The solution would be using a video player that has native support for DivX files. Such a player is Ace DivX Player. Despite the name, the software can play a wide range of media files, not only the DivX format.
The program is very easy to install and takes up little hard disk space. It is able to run on most versions of Windows, like XP, Vista or Windows 7. The system resources required are low, even if the played video file has a high resolution.
The interface is simple and resembles the one of other media players. There isn't any support for skins or themes, nor visual elements, as the program concentrates on the functionality part. Ace DivX Player features a playing window, which contains all the basic controls, like Play, Pause, Fast Forward and a playlist window, in which the user can load all the desired media files. The number of media formats supported by Ace DivX Player is quite impressive, ranging from MP3 audio files to AVI and MPEG4. Besides importing media files, the user can also load playlist files directly into the program. All the well known playlist formats are supported.
Ace DivX Player doesn't include any options. The user just has to open the media file and play it. The only feature available is the possibility to zoom into the video window. Imported files can be saved as a playlist file, to be reused later. The playlist entries can be played only once or can be set to repeat themselves.
Pros
It allows playing a wide range of video formats without adding any codecs into the system. Besides that, it can load mixed file formats into the playlist and can save the created playlist as a file.
Cons
The interface is too simple and doesn't support any skins or themes. Besides that, the number of options, as well as their complexity, are quite limited. Ace DivX Player is a complete media player that can handle most media formats out there.
